Ate Mitchie's Wedding

It’s exactly a month now since we attended Ate Mitchie's wedding held at the Fernbrook Gardens in Manila, Philippines. Hendrik was one of the Page Boys - he had his first role of being a Bible Bearer during Ate Mitchie’s wedding.

Months before the wedding we have already informed him about this role and did a couple of practice walks with a book / bible in hand. Hendrik was willing and obliging. On the day of the wedding itself (14 January 2012), with a little coaching from Mommy beside him, with the bible clasped safely in his little hands, Hendrik effortlessly and perfectly walked down the aisle. In fact, he was the only one of his age that walked independently without a parent in hand or a parent carrying. Good job little boy!

Though we never got the chance to chat with Ate Mitchie during the course of our short stay in Manila (both parties were busy with our own hectic schedules and errands to finish before flying off again), we are still grateful for the opportunity to be a part of and to witness a family’s wedding.

One thing that we discovered about Hendrik during the reception and / or after wedding party was he is a party animal. He was always in the dance floor dancing by himself or with his cousins. Even before the dancing started, he was already urging and dragging his Dad to accompany him to the dance floor!

Best wishes Ate Mitchie and Stefan! We hope you are having a beautiful married life. Hope to see you again and catch up with you soon…  =)

Hendrik’s First Kiss

No… Hendrik did not kiss someone. He was kissed by someone… 3X!

The girl next to Hendrik is Arni (not sure of the spelling). Hendrik met her Wednesday night when he was playing in the playground just next to our block. The two became instant friends. They talked, ran, and played together.

This evening, they saw each other again in the playground. As they are already friends, they went ahead playing, jumping, running and doing the slide together. Then all of a sudden, as the two of them were standing still in the playground, I saw Arni kissing Hendrik on the cheek. Hendrik was silent. Maybe he was thinking why is this girl suddenly kissing me? Then for the 2nd time, Arni kissed him on the cheek again. Hendrik didn’t mind.

I informed Arni’s grandmother who was sitting beside me at that time that her granddaughter kissed my son. She was also surprised and smiled. Then, she explained that Arni is a very sweet and friendly girl and that she easily makes friends.

Hendrik and Arni carried on playing. As we were watching them, they were sitting down beside the slides when Arni kissed Hendrik for the 3rd time! Is she expecting a response from my son? Naaaa... There was no malice. Just pure, innocent, friendly gesture between toddlers… =)

Happy love month to all!

P.S. To Arni and Arni's parents, if you are going to come across  and read this post someday in the future, please forgive me for posting this. I am so sorry if I had not asked for your permission before publishing this article along with your precious daughter's photo. No harm intended, just to document a highlight of my son Hendrik's toddler years. - Feona
