Waiting for Travis and Dizzy

Late last month up to earlier this month, Hendrik had been telling his Daddy to buy him Travis and Dizzy, characters in a kid show, Bob the Builder. Every time Joseph was out and could pass by a mall, he would always look for them, but seemed to be unsuccessful almost all the time. He would then decide to buy something that also interests Hendrik – miniature shovel trucks, garbage trucks, and racing cars.

Every time he comes home, Hendrik would be delighted to see them, but would always mention that his Daddy forgot to buy Travis and Dizzy. The boy never forgets. He knows what he wants, and wouldn’t stop until he finally gets it. He is not the cry-baby type though who whines if he doesn’t get what he asks for. He would still be excited and grateful for the “substitute”, but would then remind that you still owe him one…  =)

Days before the Holy Week break earlier this month, both Joseph and I were in Bugis area for dinner with some friends. We remembered that it was from Bugis Junction Mall where we bought Hendrik’s other Bob the Builder toys. Bugis is quite far from our place, and we normally don’t go there unless there is a need – meeting friends, attending seminars, etc.

Voila! The whole gang of Bob the Builder was there hanging on the racks accumulating dust. Travis and Dizzy were there as well, waiting to be picked up by us and be brought home to their rightful and cute little new owner - Hendrik that is.

We arrived late that night and Hendrik was already sleeping. We decided that we give him his much awaited Travis and Dizzy the next day after school. When I arrived home from work that day, Hendrik had just woken up from his afternoon nap. I told him that I had a surprise for him. When he opened his eyes, I saw the big grin on his face - the kind of expression I was expecting.  =D

He was so excited to take them out of the boxes and play with them. I was also elated seeing him very much delighted with his much awaited toys. Oh well, kids will be kids...

On another note, I must say that Bob the Builder toys are not that cheap, but the look on Hendrik’s face, it's priceless!
